Day after tomorrow…

I’m still excited and nervous, and anxious about not getting the rings in time/being late to the courthouse/not finding parking/being delayed at the metal detector one must now pass through to get into the courthouse/and a bunch of other details which I have not yet clearly articulated but I’m sure will wake me up at 3am on Wednesday night.

And, not surprisingly, family members…well, to be honest, just my mother…are starting to try and formalize the various wedding-related events. As in, “Is this the bride’s dinner or the groom’s dinner?”, “Well, the bride’s family traditionally pays for (whatever)”, when, in fact, this should all be lumped together, because it isn’t the bride or the groom’s anything, it’s all ours. And if people want to pitch in to defray costs, great, but I don’t want to start breaking stuff down using hyper-anal checklists and guides to Who Pays For What, because who needs to segregate all that stuff? It’s a family/group event! It’s soooo not about Who Pays For What—only extremely tense people remember that sort of thing after three weeks anyway…

We had a potluck at our house Saturday. My friend Christy just told me that her husband commented "Kim's lost weight! She looks great!" after they left! Oooohh yes! It's about time that someone besides my mom and my boyfriend said something. I've been going to the gym 4-5 days a week for nearly two months now, and I know the horror has been reduced, but I was getting sick of no one noticing. So yay! Now I don't feel so much like I'm just making myself sore for no discernable reason.
